The result of my collaboration with the DREAL, the French institute in charge of the coordination of the ecological-oriented projects in every French region. The project is centered on circular economy, a new and respectful way of producing, using, and taking care of every industrial material until it becomes a waste. The circular economy aims to see the life cycle of an object as a whole, have an overview on every step of its life. By making interconnections, every waste made at each step of a product’s life can be reused in other parts of the process, so that the industrial production becomes a circle, instead of a linear shape where products just become a waste at the end. By reusing, borrowing, and recycling, the circular economy’s goal is not to produce any waste.
The project, and all the elements that are part of it, is made for pedagogical purposes. It is explaining the concept of circular economy through schemes and charts, as well as showing examples of the projects taking places in the region. It is composed of a slide show, a booklet, a poster, a brochure, and a 150 pages book gathering all the local projects linked to circular economy.
A logo made for a student association from Lyon, France. As an association based on cinematographic culture, their main goal is to make students of their school discover new movies by organizing a projection every week. The logo reminds of a camera, it has been made as a pun in relation with the association's name Bobinophile where bobine means "film reel" and the suffix -phile is related to "philia", an inconditional love, a strong attraction to something. The logo has also been kept minimalistic enough to fit in every picture they could use to promote their weekly movie projections.
This flyer has been made for an outdoor party in France. Besides showing information about the party itself, this flyer was also supposed to give a first impression about the stunning and mesmerizing landscape where the party took place.
Two posters I made for an indoor party that took place two times in the two biggest french cities, Paris and Marseille. Made with primary colors, each poster is a reflection of the other one. The goal was to give an impression of a space distortion, to create a poster we could get lost in.
A project made for one of the Teater Arken’s 2016-2017 show, Prologen. The show is literally built as a prologue to the following big one, Drömspelet, so that everything won’t be shown from the beginning. On the posters, only the eyes of the actors are shown, leaving a part of mystery, and creating a classy set of nine different posters where each one includes one actor’s eyes and a sample of his or her lines used during the show.
The project also includes a Facebook event, a Facebook post, and an animated Instagram post.
A project made for one of the Teater Arken’s 2016-2017 show, Fack, which can be translated as “to sort”, “to classify”. The show aims to point out the judgmental behaviors in use in our society, the mechanisms and prejudices we can use against people to put them in predetermined “facks”. The piece of furniture shown on the poster is used as a metaphor to bring this concept to life and give a hint to the viewer.
The project also includes a Facebook event, a Facebook post, and an Instagram post.
This is Virgule (Comma, in english), an iOS app which is the product of a partnership with a Marseille-based association called Des Mots (“Words”). As a group of volunteering teachers, educators and social workers, the association is promoting culture in its whole around the city of Marseille, France. Amongst others (organization of events and exhibitions, creation of temporary book stores…), one of their mission is to give evening courses in poor areas of the city for kids and teenagers, including activities such as personal coaching or homework help.
Virgule is a smartphone application that has been created to help the association in its work. The concept is simple and coming from a simple need: making kids from these areas interest themselves in discovering, learning and studying, and thus, finding every way possible to reach this goal.
The application is meant as a learning game and has a simple concept: everyday, a word coming from a hip-hop/rap song is given a definition through the app. Virgule is therefore “splitted” in two parts: on top, the learning part, and at the bottom, a cultural part that the kids love and cherish: rap music. Through this concept, Virgule is hoping to give the kids an interest in learning new pieces of culture (words, expressions, books, famous texts, authors, poets…) using a rich musical genre that they’re already familiar with.
Alternatively, the possibility is given to listen to the song on an external platform (and therefore discovering new artists), as well as looking up all the already published words from the past days. Possibility is also given to the user to interact with the app by suggesting new words or expressions to explain.
A website project in collaboration with the french Institute of Arts & Crafts to create a platform to promote the little textile creators all around the country. The website has several goals: promote the creators, the events they get involved in (exhibitions, meetings...) and most of all, encourage people to visit the creators in their shops. The platform stands as a link between creators and people to encourage them to support their local craftsmen. It's also an opportunity to make them stronger by giving them the chance to be all together in one digital place: a strong presence on the web is often what's missing to these little artisans.
A brochure made for the Museum of contemporary art Georges Pompidou, gathering all the artists and pieces of art shown during the annual summer exhibition. The leading theme of this year’s exhibition was equivalences.
The brochure also includes a small text explaining the exhibition as well as practical informations. Another challenge here was also to fit a high quantity of informations in a determined number of pages, as well as a creating this booklet all in black & white.
A CD cover created for an independent hip-hop mixtape gathering artists from the 18th district of Paris. As there may be following releases, the mixtape has been labelled as a volume 1.
This mixtape has been released by both the independent label Paris Hall Starz and the commercial label Karismatik.
A branding project for Teater Arken, “The Arch Theater”, a complete new identity for the theater company I worked in for one year. The identity is organized around several elements: the logo, other graphical elements, and a main color. The logo is an updated version, a more modern evolution of the already existing one, keeping the main metaphor of the boat. It’s also composed as an hidden monogram, created from the letter “T” for the top, and the letter “A” for the base. Several elements found all over the communication are added to that universe to enrich it: small graphical elements are representing the wind and the waves. Finally, the main orange color gives a warm touch to the whole.
The communication aims to be a balance to represent Teater Arken in the best way: modern, serious yet playful, but not childish.
The entire communication of the annual Teater Arken’s festival Frotté. Taking place on a yearly basis, the festival features every show produced and premiered during the year.
The production is centered around two graphic elements that are repeated in every piece of the communication:
– white geometrical shapes, recalling the structures used in every show’s scenography.
– photo elements taken from the identity of the four main shows of the year: Prologen, #NoHate, Fack and Drömspelet. Each piece is the main show’s identity element and is aimed to directly represent it.
The communication is fairly linear, all the elements feature the graphic shapes mentioned above and a pink background. This is because the festival is meant to be seen as a whole where every piece (shows, premieres, improvisations, buffets, afterparties…) is part of the same event: the main festival of the year for the association Teater Arken. It also helps the visitors to clearly identify all the events happening at different places.
This communication project includes a Facebook event cover, a program, a digital invitation, an Instagram post, an information sheet, a poster, signs and indications for the different events, as well as tickets for the different shows.
A project made for one of the Teater Arken’s 2016-2017 show, Drömspelet. The show is a followup of the previous one, Prologen. It’s based on August Strindberg’s famous show Ett Drömspel (A Dream Play), telling about the story of Agnes, the daughter of the Vedic god Indra, descending to Earth to experience the problems of human beings. In the same way, the play Drömspelet is a dream in its whole. The poster is gathering the main elements from the play (a door, a chair, a coin, the earth, a scarf, a four leaf clover…), creating a nonsense, an unrealistic purple composition fitting the universe of dreams.
The project also includes a Facebook event, a Facebook post, and an Instagram post.
A full visual identity made for a music collective which is both producing music and organizing parties. The goal was to create a strong and simple identity that could be used on multiple mediums and usable in a long term perspective. The arid landscape that has been chosen to fit their identity has also been declined with multiple colors to create a collection of pictures that could be used as a set.
A poster created for a theater improvisation show hosted by the actors of the theater company Teater Arken. The unidentified yellow shape, the theater mask and the black background combined are creating a mysterious effect that fits the purpose of the show: during an improvisation, you never know what’s gonna happen.
The Wonderful USB Stick is a collaborative project which aims to promote fair access to culture. The concept is to gather music and/or movies in a USB stick and hand it to someone you know (a relative, a friend…) who will keep it for himself/herself and take the turn to do the same for someone else, leading to a chain reaction.
Rather than simply being about illegal piracy, the project goes deeper and questions fundamental topics in today’s digital society: our right to lend and share on a small scale, to discover and make discover, to open culture to everyone, and by that manner, create a fair and virtuous circle that can benefit to everyone. Alternatively, it also questions the appropriation of culture by a few capitalist companies (Netflix, Spotify…), their increasing hegemony in the cultural landscape, how they keep culture closed, charge their customers to access it, and how music and movies are being held by them.
The design here concerns the flyer that goes with every USB stick and gives information about the original owner and the new owner, the one that gives and the one that receives, as well as the content of the USB stick itself. On the back, it also features a small text explaining both the meaning and the purposes of the project.
This design that I created is under Creative Commons license and is free to share and modify.
A musical compilation restricted to non-commercial use that I created. It’s composed of 4 CDs, where each of them is representing a mood as a different side: the groove side, the psychedelic side, the chill side, and the hard side. The 4 CDs are hand packed and put in a sleeve. Both the graphical part and the packaging part are meant to be as simple as possible.
A branding identity I created for Alibabeth, a craftsman based in Limoges, France, and working with decorating porcelain and ceramic pieces. The identity is mainly based on two elements: photos of her work and her working, giving a taste of her universe, and a bright set of solid colors, showing her playful side and her naive universe.
The identity is composed of a gift card, a fidelity card, a set of business cards, a Facebook page, a newsletter template, a brochure and a website.
A poster created for a temporary exhibition about street art taking place in Paris during the summer of 2014. The poster is a pun, playing with the name of the exhibition itself, Humain Non Humain, translated as “human non-human”.
A project made for one of the Teater Arken’s 2016-2017 show, Konstigheter. The projects features a serie of simple and minimalistic posters that are all linked by both the graphics and the topic of the play. All of them are meant to represent from different angles and with different metaphors the core subject of the show: the feeling of loneliness in a crowd, the feeling of being different from the bunch.
A very small touch of color, added to black and white vector graphics are being used here to give a very clear and quick hint to the viewer about the topic of the play, to go straight to the point.
The project also includes a Facebook event and a Facebook post.
Here is a poster created for an outdoor party called Where The Wild Things Are taking place in Montreuil, near Paris, in France. The poster is a blend of all the elements that make the spirit of the party: a recall of the summer by the use of an image of a palm tree, a fresh look by the use of integral colors and emojis, and a psychedelic touch created by the pattern in the background. The whole is kept very clear and simplistic.
The project features both a still picture and an animated GIF and is meant to be used both printed and for digital promotion.
A flyer created for an indoor techno party in London organized by the collective Tekno Inferno. On Purpose, the flyer is breaking the usual design codes, showing unexpected elements and getting out of the usual arrangements you could wait from such a flyer. All this fits the universe of the collective and their motto “Tekno Inferno make crazy parties”.
A visual identity created for a newly funded label called Illil Records. The goal in that project was to create a simple, quickly recognizable, yet strong and definitely modern identity for a music label focusing on discovering and promoting new artists as well as exploring rising musical genres (future bass, cloud rap…).
In this identity, attention is put on the logo: using a lucky combination of letters in the name, it recalls of sound waves. A whole set of documents evolves around it: banners and profile pictures for social medias (Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud…), promotional images, as well as a set of ready-to-use covers, making it possible for the label to start to release songs simply.
A flyer created for the Senior Theater Festival 2017, a yearly event taking place in Helsingborg, Sweden, which allows seniors with or without special needs and disabilities to have a theater practice for a few days during the year, but also aims to work around a social purpose, create interactions and human contact amongst people who sometimes need some. The flyer fulfills both promotion and information purposes and is meant to be used both digitally and printed. The production has been kept simple, only featuring the necessary informations that follow a clear hierarchy.
A project made for one of the Teater Arken’s 2016-2017 show, Bortom Trädgränsen. The vector graphics that compose the identity are aimed to create a setting of both the topic and the ambiance of the play: a dark, freaky and troubling story, full of mysteries and unpredictable twists and elements, happening in a forest at night. By putting a stress on the ambiance of the play, the communication gives the viewer a hint about the feelings associated to the show.
A collection of pictures I designed for a new music label called Disco Records. As they were planning to mainly produce house and techno music, the goal of these first pictures was to set up a meaningful and original, yet minimalistic, visual universe that they could use and evolve into later. The label sadly never saw the light of the day, mainly due to a lack of funds.
I was asked to do a photo shoot of one of the plays I created the communication of, Drömspelet. This photo shoot was performed during the last rehearsal and is featuring photos of all the actors, from the very beginning to the end of the play.
Here is the communication project I created for the show Dömspelet.
A business card project for a young osteopath, just graduated from school, that is taking care of people at their home. The design has been kept simple, and the soft gray color used as a background, as well as the ethereal green spot used in front of the card create together a smooth and soft effect, serving the purpose related to the activity practiced here: a soft and alternative kind of medicine.
A photo shoot I realized for Kimeko, a France based craftsman who creates little objects such as wallets, bags or jewelry out of vintage pieces of fabric. This two days long shooting has been a unique occasion to showcase her creations as well as the place she works in, and to feel the ambiance that comes out of her little shop.
Two flyers made for different theater courses organized by Teater Arken, “Thursday Theater” and “Kids Theater”. These flyers have been made in relation with the new identity I also created for the theater company, taking elements from it to create two different universes to fit the purpose of each course: playful, but yet serious on one side, and playful and colorful on the other side.
This identity is a conceptual project created for a group of people whose purpose is to create a network of alternative graveyards all around France called green graveyards. By the use of natural elements and respectful ways and impacts on the nature, the aim is both to create a more ecological burial as well as to propose an alternative to the traditional ones.
The identity is organized around the concept of the particle, the state we get back in after dying, as we return to the earth. This concept has been used to create the logos, the font especially created for the identity called “Particle”, and the patterns used all around the identity.
As the project is supposed to be tested in the region Limousin, but to be spread to all the other French regions afterwards, the identity is also suggesting an extension based on the logo colors that fit the main tones of every region’s natural landscapes.
The identity includes a logo and its extensions, a letter template, a business card and its extensions, an envelope and its extensions, posters, and a brochure.
This project has been created in collaboration with Amélie Manchoulas. Have a look at her work at amypiou.tumblr.com!
A project made for one of the Teater Arken’s 2016-2017 show, Tornet (The Tower). The play tells the story of a group of kids getting locked in a tower and spending the night trying to get out while they’re chased by a ghost. It’s a short play both played by and made for kids, that’s the reason why the communication has been kept simple: the poster features minimalistic and plain graphics that give a hint about the topic and the story, and the pink background gives a fresh look to the whole.
The project also includes a Facebook event and a Facebook post.
A review of the one week long workshop I made in Domaine de Boisbuchet with the Peruvian film maker Mauricio Freyre. The goal was to create video, visual and light experiments as well as human performances that could communicate with each other to create a whole set of installations. Starting by shooting a short movie, we later created several installations related to it that led to an indoor and outdoor path that people had the opportunity to experience during the presentation at the end of the week.
A poster created for the N.I.N.E. Party, an outdoor psytrance party taking place in Spain. As a way to represent and give a picture of the universe of the party, the poster is created around warm and colorful colors in a blurry and smoky environment.
A poster produced for Delirium Frequencies, an outdoor psytrance party taking place in Spain and organized by the association Alternate Reality. To fit the association’s identity, as well as the universe of the party, I created an artwork used as a background, mixing both natural and industrial elements, creating an unrealistic and mesmerizing landscape.
A poster created for a contest initiated by The Cohort, a group of South Korean hip-hop artists. The aim of the contest was to create a poster for their first European tour as a collective in 2016.
My creation went to the final round, but didn’t finally win.
I created a very simple, easily usable and transportable piece of communication for the association Teater Arken featuring necessary informations such as social networks links, website and Swish number. This support follows the Teater Arken’s new identity and is meant to be seen by those who attend events hosted by Teater Arken (fikas, cakes sales, tickets sakes…) and promote the association.
A flyer created for From Front to Back, an annual Full Moon party taking place in Morocco. The dark background of the poster is aimed to create a “night” set up in relation with the moon, as well as representing the sand and the wind of the Sahara desert. The poster is organized around circles representing the main purpose of the party: the full moon.
A logo created to illustrate the blog I hold about my own expatriation to Sweden. The logo, as well as the title and the subtitle are aimed to represent both cultures, the link, the bridge, the in-between space that is every expatriate’s condition: being away from your native country and all its comforting marks as well as living in a new culture, a new society.
I want to keep that blog as a mark, a testimony of my own adventure, my own story, my own evolution from my arrival to Sweden. You can visit it at fromfrancetosweden.tumblr.com!
A poster I created to promote my own thesis, written during my Master’s Degree. The poster is showing a sum up of it, as well as the title and the catch phrase.
My thesis’ name is “To learn: Click here”, and is questioning what it’s like, for the Y and Z generations, to learn and accumulate information mostly through digital medias. Does it change anything to the way of learning? Does it change anything to the way of processing, storing and remembering information? Does it change anything to the way of seeing the world?
Here is a poster created for an outdoor psytrance party taking place in Italy. Starting with a picture of the landscape where the party took place, I edited it to create a mesmerizing view and to fit the psychedelic orientation of the party.
A project made for one of the Teater Arken’s 2016-2017 show, Jag Enligt Media (Me and the Medias). The communication is centered around a picture featuring all the actors of the show, which aims to represent its main topic: us and our interactions with the medias, or how we can express and stand up for ourselves and what makes our individuality by being in the same time part of a globalized society. The communication (through the photo used as a background) is meant to give a snapshot of this topic: a group and individuals at the same time, all different, but all together.
Alternatively, the angle of the photo has also been chosen to tease the viewer, to give a hint and not reveal too much.
The project also includes a Facebook event and a Facebook post.
